If you’re driving directly after watching the movie Drive—which includes this song in its soundtrack—sudden urges to seem like a professional driver contemplating bad assery may occur.

Seek medical attention if the problem persists.

Westboro Baptist Church gets overwhelmed with gay and lesbian supporters in Long Beach, California’s gayest city; fantastic gay dance party ensues.

I’m late to the party with this one, but I definitely had to share it. It’s feel-good stuff in light of a very depressing subject.

I wish I was gay so that I could have as much fun as these guys.

Word up, random Youtube user.

This is Either the Best or Worst Purchase I’ve Ever Made [UPDATE]

             HP Touchpad

In case you weren’t aware (person living under a rock), HP is ditching their recently released HP Touchpad and seems to be done with WebOS entirely. So, because of that HP is clearing out all Touchpads with a fire sale. 16 GB models are selling for 100.00 dollars, and the 32 GB models are going for 150.00 dollars.

I jumped in on that. 100.00 dollars for a web browsing, e-mail checking device? It’s no iPad 2, but it’s also 400.00 dollars cheaper.

It’s a real shame that WebOS is being killed. The card system used for multitasking is one of the coolest things I’ve seen, and the notifications system looks fantastic.

Apparently there are rumors floating around that HP may keep WebOS going in some form. If that doesn’t happen there is a group hard at work to get Android’s tablet operating system installed on the Touchpad.

If you’re interested, good luck. I spent a cool 30 minutes on the phone with various retailers and none of them had any in stock; Target, Best Buy, Frys, Walmart. Nothing. A little birdie on Twitter managed to link me to a third party Amazon seller that was selling for $99.99, but those are long gone.

The ferocity and velocity at which these things are selling bodes well for cheap, decent working tablets for web browsing and other menial tasks. Though the Touchpad is capable of doing much, much more, I can’t help wondering what this is going to do to the market.

UPDATE:

Well, this is a real big bummer. The third party Amazon seller didn’t have any more HP Touchpads, or perhaps refused to sell them because he noticed other places selling them for $200, and now I’m no longer getting one. Sucks.

ckck:

I was eating pizza the other day when my mind got to thinking about that little plastic tripod used to keep larger pizza boxes from caving in. It’s the kind of invention no one thinks about because of how simple it is, yet it’s a smart, cheap solution. After a bit of googling, I found out that it was invented and patented as a “package saver” in the early 80s by a woman named Carmela Vitale from Dix Hills, N.Y. I would’ve loved to have found more back story on how she came up with it, but the patent is all I could find.

There’s a really neat article that details the trials and tribulations pizza places had to go through to get to the modern pizza delivery box.

Fox News Faithful Threaten Atheists

“Good”, God fearing Christians made fools of themselves after Blair Scott, Communications Director for American Atheists, appeared on a Fox News show to discuss a lawsuit that would prevent a cross from being erected in the Trade Center memorial.

Over 8,000 death threats were made on the Fox News Facebook page.

TO ALL ATHEIEST DIE AN GO TO HELL HAHA IF I COULD ID SHOOT ALL OF YOU IN THE HEAD WITH A 12GAUGE [sic]

Here’s my solution, kill the group…just kidding, you figure it out. I’m so sick of people that pick and choose when they want to truly be American. They can go to Hell oh wait the will. [sic]

Because being American means believing in Christ. Sorry, 24% of the US population!

I wonder what God would find more objectionable; genocide or paganism?

My First Where’s George Bill

             Where's George Bill

Have you seen one of these? It’s a Where’s George bill. You’re supposed to log in the bill’s serial number into the Where’s George website. Once you do that you can check where it has previously been. You can continue tracking it after you’ve thrown it back into circulation.

My bill isn’t like the one pictured, though. Mine has the stamp around the Department of the Treasury seal with a set of arrows and a picture of California. According to the website I am the second person to have logged it in — the first after its initial log where it was first thrown into circulation in San Diego. The bill itself actually says San Diego over the picture of the state of California.

Apparently the website is a hit. It’s has had its fair share of outages from the heavy traffic.

Interestingly, a couple of researchers used this website to track how far and fast diseases spread across the nation. Some scary thoughts, but cool nonetheless.

Social Networks Frighten Me

It’s astonishing how willing people seem to be to throw their entire life up on the internet. From relationship statuses, pictures of friends vomiting after a saucy party, their day to day activities, to even going as far as to give exact coordinates of their whereabouts. Big brother doesn’t need to spy on you.

It isn’t enough that all of this information is stored by Mr. Zuckerberg and sold to various marketers and who-knows-whats, however. People happily leave their profiles open for anyone with a search engine to find and probe their day to day lives. I imagine it’s extremely easy for an employer to gauge someone’s eligibility for whatever job they’re applying for.

Realizing your friends have a problem is the easy part. Getting them to go into Meme Rehab, and resisting the urge to detonate their nuts with a swift kick, is where it gets tough.
